Considering the multicultural nature of Nigeria and, indeed, most African nations with their attendant problems of ethnic crisis, we are involved in the massive re-orientation of people in a multicultural society towards nationalism as against ethnic nationalism thereby reducing the chances of conflicts associated with ethnic bigotry.
Nigeria is a country of 378 ethnic nationalities with each group contending fiercely for the control of its abundant resources to the exclusion of the others. This has led to immense lack of trust, mutual suspicion and, as a consequence, ethnic crisis leading to violence of destructive proportions
We are involved in promoting harmonious co-existence of our people thereby promoting development and national integration too.
Violence of all forms is presently threatening the very existence of our nation. The culture of violence in most parts of the country has taken a new dimension that is scary. Violence of robbery, hostage taking, kidnapping, murder, rape, even political, ethnic and religious ones are now on the rise.
To stem this tide of violence, we brought and introduced, for the first time in the history of our nation, Nonviolence Training and Education Programme.
We brought to Nigeria , the University of Rhode Island Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies, Kingston , USA , led by its Director, one of America ’s Civil Rights leaders and a former colleague of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. Bernard LaFayette Jr. who is known as the world’s best hand in Kingian Nonviolence philosophy and training. This programme is the only one, to date, in Nigeria steadily transforming the lives of the Niger-Delta youths who have taken to violence in order to seek equity and justice in their fatherland.
We designed and held, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Information, “The 1st Nigeria Forever Project” programme in 2005. It was a programme geared towards the promotion of nationalism amongst Nigerian citizens.
We have scored a lot of firsts in our chosen endeavour. The success story is anchored on our sincerity of purpose.
We hold Seminars, Conferences, Nonviolence Training Programmes and Rallies in doing the peace work. National peace and global peace are essential for human development and as such, should be encouraged.
You will find our photo gallery very enriching.
We invite you to support our efforts.
It is the only way to stop the incessant drift towards war and conflicts in, not only, Nigeria but Africa as a whole.
We do courses against violence of all forms. Violence and terrorism are twin evils.
We discourage it as a means of settling disputes. We are setting up Nonviolence Centers in all the 36 states of Nigeria .
We need adequate support towards this.
